Delícias do mundo: sashimi e língua de bacalhau

Deixei Vardo com destino a Komagvaer para pescar salmão em um dos melhores rios da região. O rio Komagelva é famoso e bem procurado pelos pescadores.

Ao chegar, comprei a licença nacional e a local. Uma paulada! Kr 620 (R$ 180) por apenas um dia de pesca. Na Noruega não existe pesca grátis em rios. No rio Komagelva só é permitido pescar com fly. Fly é aquele tipo de pesca que o pescador faz movimentos sincronizados com a vara para lançar a isca artificial supostamente onde está o peixe.

Mariana, a filha de D. Eva, proprietária do café que comprei a licença, foi minha professora. Ela me ensinou os princípios básicos e depois lá fui eu tentar a sorte.

É sempre mais indicado pescar quando a maré esta alta. Mas eu não quis saber. Pesquei praticamente o dia todo. Depois da aula, fui comer um lanche e corri para a beira do rio. Um vento gelado e eu lá, ziguezagueando minha vara tentando fazer o que Mariana me ensinara. Só parei de pescar quando comecei a tremer de frio por volta das 3h da madrugada. 9h já estava novamente no rio. Só parei para comer. O consolo foi que nem mesmo os mais experientes pescadores obtiveram sucesso.

Quando minha licença expirou, fui improvisar um sashimi na cabine de Asbjion, um dos mais tradicionais pescadores da região.

Hoje pedalei até Vadso.

Enquanto fazia o check-in conheci a gerente do hotel. Ela ficou encantada com o projeto Noruega by Bike e me apresentou á Terje Baumann,o Chef que me convidou á sua cozinha para que acompanhasse o preparo do meu jantar.

Delights of the world: sashimi and codfish tongue

I left Vardo to Komagvaer to fish salmon in one of the best rivers of the region. The river Komagelva is famous and very sought after by the fisherman.
By the time I got there I bought a local and a national license. Very expensive! Kr 620 (US$ 114.00) just for one day fishing. In Norway there’s no free fishing in rivers. In the river Komagelva there’s only permission for fly fishing. Fly fishing is that kind of fishing where the fisherman makes synchronized movements with the rod as to launch the artificial bait presumably in the spot where the fish is. Mariana, D. Eva’s daughter, owner of the cafe where I bought the license, was my teacher. She thought me the basic principles and there I went to try my luck.
It’s always best suited to go fishing when the tide is high. But I didn’t care. I fished almost all day long. After the class, I had a snack and ran to the riverbank. A cold wind and me swinging my rod from side to side trying to do what Mariana had thought me. I only stopped fishing when I started to shiver with cold at around 3am. At 9am I was back to the riverbank. I only stopped to eat. The consolation was that not even the most experienced fisherman were successful.
When my license expired, I improvised a sashimi in the cabin of the Asbjion, one of the most traditional fishermen of the region.
Today I pedaled to Vadso.
While I was making the check-in I met the hotel manager. She was enchanted with the Norway by Bike Project and introduced me to Terje Baumann, the Chef Who invited me to go to his kitchen to see him preparing my dinner.
